Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy in Melbourne

Pelvic floor physio for continence, prolapse, pregnancy and menopause.
At Health104 in Middle Park, pelvic floor physiotherapy is led by Rebecca Dwyer, our pelvic floor physiotherapist. Whether you’re dealing with bladder leaks, prolapse, pregnancy-related pain or changes through menopause, you get a plan built around your symptoms and the things you want to get back to doing.
Pelvic floor physiotherapy, sometimes called pelvic muscle therapy, is physiotherapy for the muscles that support the bladder, bowel and pelvic organs. A pelvic floor physio assesses how those muscles are working, then uses hands-on therapy, tailored exercise and practical advice to help with continence, prolapse, pelvic pain and pregnancy-related pain.

FAQ

ask us
anything

A pelvic floor physio looks after the muscles that support the bladder, bowel and pelvic organs. Common reasons to book include bladder or bowel leaks, prolapse, pain during or after pregnancy, and changes through menopause. If you’re not sure your symptoms fit, reception can help you choose the right appointment.
Your first appointment starts with a conversation about your symptoms, health history and goals, followed by an assessment. An internal examination is only offered where it would help, and only with your consent. You can say no and still leave with a plan.
You don’t need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist. If your GP has put you on a management plan for a chronic condition, some sessions may attract a Medicare rebate. Many private health extras policies also cover physiotherapy, so check with your fund or ask reception what applies to you.
If pelvic floor symptoms are getting in the way of your day, it’s worth being assessed. Leaks, heaviness and pelvic pain are common, but you don’t have to put up with them without advice. An assessment tells you what’s going on and what your options are.
