About Dr Jonathan Gillies

Dr Jonathan's background

Dr Jonny is a Melbourne-based GP and founder of Duro Health, a longevity-focused medical practice now consulting from Health104 in Middle Park.

He is passionate about preventative and longevity medicine, helping patients better understand their current health and build evidence-based strategies for living longer, healthier lives.

Jonny has over a decade of clinical experience across general practice, public health, sports medicine, addiction medicine, university teaching, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

He completed his medical degree at Monash University in 2012 and holds a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, along with diplomas in Women’s and Children’s Health. He is also a Fellow of the RACGP.

His areas of interest include:

  • Longevity and preventative medicine
  • Cardiometabolic health
  • Cognitive health and dementia prevention
  • Hormonal health
  • Lifestyle medicine
  • Evidence-based health optimisation
  • Comprehensive health assessments
  • Biological age and risk profiling

At Duro Health, Jonny works with patients who want to go beyond standard healthcare by gaining a deeper understanding of their long-term health risks and opportunities.

His approach includes comprehensive pathology testing, biological age assessments, body composition analysis, cardiovascular and cognitive risk profiling, and personalised longevity planning tailored to each patient’s goals, values, and stage of life.

Jonny has a strong interest in emerging evidence surrounding epigenetic ageing, lipidology including ApoB, hormonal health, exercise science, nutrition, and sustainable behaviour change — always grounded in evidence-based medicine.

Central to his approach is patient education and shared decision-making.

He believes the best health outcomes occur when patients feel informed, empowered, and actively involved in their care. Jonny enjoys translating complex medical concepts into practical, understandable advice that patients can confidently apply to everyday life.

After years of seeing patients manage preventable illness, Jonny developed a strong belief that medicine should focus more on proactive health optimisation rather than reactive disease management. This philosophy ultimately led to the creation of Duro Health.
